President Rumen Radev held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, in connection with the upcoming participation of the Bulgarian head of State in the Budapest Demographic Summit at the invitation of Hungarian President Katalin Novak, the presidential press service said on Thursday. During the conversation, topics from the agenda of bilateral relations were discussed, as well as those  within the framework of the two country's EU  partnership.

Szijjarto raised the issue of additional supplies of natural gas to Hungary under the Solidarity Ring natural gas transmission network in Eastern Europe, created at the initiative of Bulgaria, as well as guaranteeing the security of supplies of energy resources. President Radev stressed that Bulgaria's increased possibilities for natural gas transmission after commissioning the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece, its upgrade with the Solidarity Ring system and the agreement with Botas for free access to the liquefied gas terminals and the gas transmission network of Turkiye, have created a solid basis for real energy diversification and overcoming unilateral dependence in natural gas supplies. The head of State said that only with joint efforts and solidarity can EU member states sustainably guarantee the security of their energy supplies.
