Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli said on Thursday that the large forest fire in the northwestern district if Canakkale has been contained, TRT-Haber and CNN-Turk reported.

Yumakli said that over 4,000 hectares of land have burned and seven houses have been damaged.

Ten aircraft, unmanned vehicles, 38 helicopters, 790 vehicles, and 3,175 people took part in the efforts to extinguish the fire, said the Agriculture Minister. 

He said that traffic through the Dardanelles will be restored as well as traffic bound for Can.

Meanwhile the coast guard X-ted that traffic in the Dardanelles has resumed only for north-bound vessels. 

Healthcare Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Wednesday that 95 people were injured in the fire and 20 are in hospital. 

According to the latest data, over 1,400 people from ten villages have been evacuated.

Bulgaria’s Consulate General in Istanbul told BTA on Wednesday that there is no information about injured Bulgarians in the Canakkale fire.
