site.btaIpsos Survey Finds Increase in Negative Expectations in Turkiye

An Ipsos survey found that 84% of Turks identify the economy as their country's worst problem. The economic outlook plummeted 9.2 points since May, when presidential and parliamentary elections were held, after gaining more than 11 points from March to May.

The survey of expectations found growing pessimism about Turkiye's economic problems and expectations for a further weakening of the Turkish lira and an increase in inflation and unemployment.

Ipsos Turkiye CEO Sidar Gedik said the weakening of the Turkish lira in June eroded consumer confidence. Turkiye's Consumer Confidence index fell by 3.2 points in June and the country had the second lowest score in the world after Argentina.
