The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and its main members in the public sector are launching a series of protest actions from Wednesday, July 12, under the slogan: "For fair incomes in Budget 2023 and protection of workers' labour rights", CITUB said Monday.

The actions will involve employees of the National Social Insurance Institute (NSI), the National Revenue Agency, the Bulgarian National Radio, the Archives State Agency, "National Toll Management", the Executive Agency "Fighting Hail", the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture, "Irrigation Systems", the Agricultural Academy, as well as workers in the fire safety sector, culture and others.

The protests will take place in front of the official entrance of the National Assembly, where the workers will insist to meet with the MPs and present their demands on the draft budget for 2023. Next week, workers at state-owned energy companies will also come out in protest against the planned seizure of 100% of the companies' dividend, CITUB said.

Recently, the economic council at the Podkrepa labour confederation Vanya Grigorova also announced that protest actions are being prepared. She said that the actions are being considered not only in Sofia. In May, the two unions staged a warning strike at the National Social Security Institute.
