A book corner of the State of Palestine was unveiled Thursday at the St Cyril and St Methodius National Library in Sofia. This is the 21st book corner, presenting the culture of a foreign country to open at the National Library since the start of the initiative at the beginning of 2022, on an idea of the Director of the National Library, Krassimira Alexandrova, the Union of Bulgarian Writers said.

The National Library in Sofia is planning to conclude a contract with the National Library of Palestine to promote the literary wealth of both countries. "Our readers will have the opportunity to experience unique editions of Palestinian culture," said Alexandrova, as quoted by the Union of Bulgarian Writers.

"Over the centuries, culture in Palestine has been a fundamental element in the identity of the Palestinian people. Cultural contributions in art, literature, music, dress, cuisine express the distinctiveness of the Palestinian identity. Many of the books in this corner are from the Cultural Heritage series that the government launched - works by Palestinian writers who wrote in the 1920s," said the Charge d'Affairs of the State of Palestine's embassy in Bulgaria, Adham Zeineddine, who participated in the event.

Zeineddine presented the head of the National Library with a Palestinian Presidential Plaquette marking Palestine's becoming the 194th state of the UN with observer status.

An exhibition of national garments, embroideries, sculptures and models of significant places in Palestine was presented as part of the opening of the book corner.
