Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov met with Kazakhstan's Ambassador Viktor Temirbayev to discuss ways to strengthen regional cooperation between their countries, the Ministry said on Thursday.

Stoyanov stressed that Kazakhstan is a very promising market and in order to boost two-way trade, the two countries should accelerate the construction of the shortest freight routes. In 2022, two-way trade grew by over 80% from 2021 to nearly USD 90 million. Bulgaria's exports to Kazakhstan increased by 25%-plus to USD 58 million. Besides better infrastructure connectivity, it is of the utmost importance to promote partnership between companies because they are the real engine of economic cooperation, Stoyanov added.

The diplomat said Bulgaria is increasingly establishing itself as a transport and logistics hub on the route to Europe and the development of transport and information connectivity between the two countries is a key priority to them.
