site.btaBulgarian Prosecution Office Provides Summarized Information on Violations, Crimes Related to April 2 Parliamentary Elections

Since the beginning of the election campaign (March 3, 2023) until 1 pm on April 1, 760 files and 122 pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in connection with violations of citizens' political rights, related to the April 2 elections for the 49th National Assembly, the Prosecution Office said Saturday.

The initiated pre-trial proceedings per appellate region in Bulgaria were 40 in Sofia, 28 in Burgas, 15 in Plovdiv, 25 in Varna, and 14 in Veliko Tarnovo.

To date, five persons have been charged. Investigative actions have been carried out in the pre-trial proceedings initiated and the evidence is to be analyzed.
