site.btaCulture Minister Todorov Meets with National Library of Nigeria CEO Anunobi
Bulgarian Culture Minister Nayden Todorov met on Monday with Prof. Chinwe Anunobi, the National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria. Assoc. Prof. Krasimira Aleksandrova, Director of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library, took part in the meeting.
Prof. Anunobi is leading a delegation on their first visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Assoc. Prof. Aleksandrova, who said work on the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the two National Libraries had started during the visit. She added they had discussed aspects of legislation relating to digitization. A workshop on the preservation of literary heritage will be held on Tuesday.
Todorov said that right now it is particularly important to continue the process of digitization of libraries.
Prof. Anunobi thanked Todorov for the warm welcome and expressed admiration for the way Bulgarians respect their history, preserve it and pass it on to future generations.
The St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library has had a corner of the National Library of Nigeria since July 2021. The idea is part of a long-term vision for the Library's mission to attract visitors and readers.
