Bulgarian Girl Salimova Wins U12 World Chess Title at 2015 FIDE World Youth & Cadets Championship

Sofia, November 5 (BTA) - Bulgarian Nurgyul Salimova won the 
world chess title in the under 12 years category at the 2015 
FIDE World Youth & Cadets Championship held in Porto Carras in 
Greece. The player, from the Bourgas 64 club, drew against 
Martha Samadashvili of the United States, which was enough to 
secure the title with a score of 9.5 points out of 11. Yip 
Carissa, also of the United States, had the same score as the 
Bulgarian but Salimova won the title on account of her victory 
in the direct game. 
Four years ago Salimova won the European chess title in the U8 
category. 
At the 2015 FIDE World Youth & Cadets Championship, another 
Bulgarian girl, Dilyana Ivanova, won a bronze medal at the U8 
category, scoring 8.5 points out of 11. Three other Bulgarian 
girls ranked among the top ten players in their age groups. 
Coach Zhiko Zhekov told dnevnik.bg that it has been decades when
 he had last seen such success. 
Young chess players from 91 countries took part in the 2015 FIDE
 World Youth & Cadets Championship in Greece.
