Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov highly commended the capabilities demonstrated during the Hawk Eye 26 unmanned aerial vehicle competition, organized by the Land Forces, the Ministry of Defence press centre reported on Wednesday. Together with Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov, Stoyanov observed a demonstration by the competition participants at the Slivnitsa Training Centre.

"We are witnessing a gradual enhancement of the Land Forces' capabilities, and I would certainly cite this branch of the armed forces as an example of how to look toward the future and realize a vision for development," Stoyanov said, congratulating the Land Forces Commander, Major General Deyan Deshkov, on the achievements.

Eight teams from Land Forces units took part in the competition. Over the course of several days, unmanned aerial system operators demonstrated their knowledge and practical skills.

The team from the 2nd Tundzha Mechanized Brigade took first place. Representatives from the 101st Alpine Regiment earned the silver medals, while the bronze went to operators from the 13th Brigade Command. The awards were presented by Deshkov, who congratulated the competitors on the high level of skill and precision demonstrated during the event. The competition also offered guests a static and dynamic display of unmanned aerial systems from Bulgarian manufacturers.
