site.btaAnti-Drone System Demonstrated in Samokov

A system for detecting, locating and countering unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) was presented at the Samel-90 company in Samokov on Thursday, the Defence Ministry reported.

The demonstration was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Transport, the Land Forces, Air Force and Navy, the Joint Special Operations Command, the National Service for Protection, the General Directorate National Police, the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime, the General Directorate Border Police and the General Directorate for Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism.

The Samel-90 management presented an integrated solution for detecting and countering unmanned aerial vehicles, combining various components and technologies and allowing it to be configured according to the specific task and the characteristics of the site being protected.

The practical demonstration showed the system's operation from a control centre and a mobile centre, along with its capabilities to determine the location of aerial vehicles and deploy electronic countermeasures. The system is designed to protect military and strategic sites, critical infrastructure and areas where the use of unauthorized drones poses a security risk.

In comments, Deputy Defence Minister Katerina Gramatikova-Ivanova highlighted the important role of the Bulgarian defence industry in developing the capabilities of the country's armed forces. She stressed the need for more intensive cooperation between Bulgarian companies and institutions within the defence and security system.
