The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre in Blagoevgrad have signed a partnership agreement aimed at promoting the theatre’s work and supporting the development of its cultural activities, initiatives and events. The agreement was signed by BTA Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva and theatre director Prolet Petkova.

Under the agreement, the Blagoevgrad theatre will provide BTA each week with text, video and photographs about its activities and events for publication by the agency. BTA will serve as the theatre’s long-term media partner for various initiatives and will distribute information about them.

The theatre will also be entitled to promote the partnership by displaying the BTA logo on its printed and online materials related to events and initiatives. The logo may also appear on the theatre’s website and on its social media platforms, according to the agreement.

The Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre in Blagoevgrad was established in 1919 as a city theatre and was initially housed in the building of a local community centre. In 1943, when Gorna Dzhumaya (present-day Blagoevgrad) became a regional administrative centre, the theatre company began operating on a professional basis. In 1952, it adopted the poet Nikola Vaptsarov as its patron, and in 1967 it moved into its own building. The theatre has received numerous prestigious awards at national forums and festivals for directing, acting, stage design and music. It is currently the largest state cultural institution outside the capital in southwestern Bulgaria. The theatre maintains a rich and diverse active repertoire of nearly 20 productions, according to the company.
