site.btaBurgas District Prosecutor Highlights Large Drug Seizure

“Burgas is once again making headlines today with good news in the fight against crime,” Burgas District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev wrote on Facebook after the seizure of a large shipment of drugs found in a truck at the entrance to the coastal city.

Earlier, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev announced that Interior Ministry officers had seized hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and marijuana.

Chinev noted that the discovery was another achievement, following a ruling issued Friday by the Burgas Court of Appeals, which sentenced Syrian national Omar Adnan to life imprisonment. Adnan was found guilty of causing the deaths of police officers Yordan Iliev and Atanas Gradev.

“A powerful blow has been dealt to drug trafficking in Burgas. This is how we must work in order to restore people’s trust,” Chinev also wrote in his post.
