Bulgaria and Indonesia are discussing opportunities for technology transfer, investment and joint production in high-tech sectors, the Ministry of Economy, Investments and Industry said here on Thursday following a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Alexander Poulev and Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria Listiana Operananta.
The areas discussed included high technology, space and satellite technologies, drones and related services, logistics and industry.
"There is very strong interest from Indonesia in technology transfer that would enable innovative Bulgarian companies to establish production facilities in Indonesia," Poulev said, as quoted by the Ministry.
The meeting also addressed the potential for expanding trade and investment relations between the two countries. Poulev said that Indonesia, as the largest economy in Southeast Asia, was a promising partner for expanding the presence of Bulgarian businesses in the region.
"We are taking concrete steps to diversify the economy. This is a clear national priority, which is why we are seeking new opportunities for economic and investment partnerships with countries in Asia, the Middle East and the Far East," the Minister said.
The two sides discussed the possibility of continuing the existing bilateral dialogue through concrete initiatives to promote investment, joint production and technology partnerships.
