Parliament Goes on Summer Recess until August 23

Bulgarian MPs went on summer recess from August 5 through August 23, inclusive. The proposal was submitted by Progressive Bulgaria and was approved here on Friday by 150 votes in favour, two against and one abstention. GERB-UDF MPs did not take part in the vote.

The next regular sitting of Parliament will be held on August 26 at 9:00 a.m., Parliament Deputy Chair Ivan Angelov announced before ringing the bell to mark the end of the sitting. He wished MPs a pleasant recess.

On the last working day before the recess, the National Assembly scheduled the elections for President and Vice President for October 25, 2026, and opened the procedure for electing members of the Judges Chamber and Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council from the parliamentary quota.

The sitting ended with the regular Friday parliamentary question time.
