Information regarding the security protection provided to politicians should be made public, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev told reporters at a briefing on Tuesday. He also said it was necessary to establish whether the security protection provided to Delyan Peevski had been justified.
On Monday, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) said that the National Service for Protection (NSO) had spent just over BGN 220,000 on providing security to Peevski over a period of 10 months.
Demerdzhiev added that it would soon become clear how much Peevski's flights had cost, who had paid for them, and who had provided him with aircraft and on what legal grounds.
"When you are a public figure, all of these actions should be public knowledge so that society can make informed decisions," Demerdzhiev said.
