site.bta Maharaj Trio from India Perform in Burgas

The Maharaj Trio from India performed at the Open Air Stage the Snail in Burgas on Sunday as part of their Bulgarian tour.

The concert was organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the East-West Indological Foundation with the support of the Indian Embassy in Bulgaria.

Hailing from the sacred city of Varanasi, the trio features sarod virtuoso Pandit Vikash Maharaj alongside his sons, Prabhash Maharaj (tabla) and Abhishek Maharaj (sitar). They represent a family that has preserved the traditions of Indian classical music for more than 500 years and 15 generations.

Pandit Vikash Maharaj has already performed over 7,000 concerts worldwide and has collaborated with various artists including Herbie Hancock, Peter Gabriel and John McLaughlin.

The trio's concerts in Bulgaria are part of their European tour following performances across Western Europe in May and June.
