The meeting between Prime Minister Rumen Radev and the Holy Synod on Friday will be his first such meeting and can be described as a protocol meeting, Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil told journalists on his way to the Synodal Palace.
On Friday, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate is scheduled to hold a session.
The Patriarch said that the Church interacts constantly with the state and that there are always sufficient topics for discussion when there is cooperation of mutual interest.
When asked whether he supports lifting the sanctions against Russian Patriarch Kirill, Patriarch Daniil said: “This is definitely a bold step and we do not believe that sanctions against the head of a Local Orthodox Church achieve the interest and effect that those imposing the sanctions think they will achieve. I think the decision is correct.”
