site.btaBulgarian, Polish PMs Discuss Expanding Bilateral Economic Partnership

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk held talks on Thursday focusing on opportunities to further expand bilateral economic and investment cooperation, the Bulgarian Council of Ministers said in a press release. Their meeting took place on the sidelines of the High-Level International Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine, held in the Polish city of Gdansk.

The two leaders identified high technologies, high value-added industries, and infrastructure development as particularly promising areas for deeper cooperation between Bulgaria and Poland.

During the discussions, Radev highlighted Poland’s sustained economic growth and modernization, noting that the country's effective oversight of the use of European Union funds had played a significant role in its success and could serve as a model for other Eastern European countries.

The two PMs also reviewed the strong cooperation between Bulgaria and Poland in the field of defence. Radev expressed Bulgaria’s interest in working with Poland on the maintenance and support of the Bulgarian Air Force’s F-16 fighter aircraft fleet.

While in Gdansk, Radev also met with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. Their talks focused on the development of the Middle Corridor, a new and reliable transport route intended to connect Europe with the Caspian region and Central Asia. The two officials emphasized that the excellent high-level political dialogue maintained with countries in these regions would be instrumental in accelerating work on the transport corridor project.

The international conference in Gdansk brought together heads of state and government, representatives of international organizations, financial institutions, and the business community to discuss Ukraine’s reconstruction and broader regional cooperation.
