site.btaScenography and Costume Design Graduates Present Works in Sofia Exhibition

Graduating bachelor's and master's students from the National Academy of Art (NAA) are contributing to an open-air exhibition in Kristal Garden in downtown Sofia, which opens on June 24 and will be on display until July 7. The project is aimed to present the young artists' graduation works to a wide audience, highlighting their distinctive creative identities and artistic positions, the NAA said in a press release.

Participating are the NAA Scenography Department and the Master's programmes in Scenography for Drama Theatre, Costume Design, and Authorial Visual Performance Design.

The event forms part of the "NAA Graduate Exhibitions – Class of 2026" project, through which the Academy is presenting a total of 21 exhibitions featuring final-year art students. The first exhibition opened on June 17, with presentations continuing until July 30 across 15 venues in Sofia, Bankya and Burgas.

Media partners of the graduating students are the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR). The initiative is being held for the fourth consecutive year and is included in the programme marking the NAA's 130th anniversary.

According to the organizers, the exhibitions celebrate graduation not only as the culmination of the educational process but also as the first professional public appearance of the young artists.

The various exhibitions feature works and projects created using both classical and contemporary artistic approaches across the visual arts. These include painting, sculpture, printmaking, mural art, poster design, book art, scenography, textiles, design, artistic wood and metalwork, ceramics, conservation and restoration, digital arts and photography.

The project is being implemented with the financial support of Sofia Municipality's Cultural Events Calendar programme, with the assistance of Burgas Municipality, and within the framework of the National Academy of Art's 2026 competition for funding projects in scientific and artistic creative activity.
