Obzor Central Beach has introduced online reservations for umbrellas and sun loungers through the My Spot platform, with visitors having now the opportunity to reserve and pay in advance or scan a QR code on-site, beach manager Stanislava Stoyanova-Belchinova told BTA.
The system allows bookings several days ahead and provides a digital map of all beach zones, including photos and real-time availability, she noted. The new service is designed to make visits more convenient, guarantee preferred spots, and reduce congestion during peak hours. The initiative marks a shift from a first-come, first-served model to a more organized and digital approach to beach capacity management, Belchinova emphasized.
The beach, which covers approximately 50,000 square metres, has also received the Blue Flag award for the fourth consecutive year, recognizing its high standards of cleanliness, safety, environmental management, and service quality. Most visitors are Bulgarian, with a significant number of tourists from Romania, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
Blue Flag is a voluntary certification programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), an international organization with members from over 80 countries. It has operated for nearly 40 years, annually evaluating and certifying beaches, marinas, and tourism vessels. Currently, around 5,200 sites worldwide participate in the programme, including Bulgarian beaches and marinas.
BTA will present all 32 Bulgarian beaches and ports awarded with the Blue Flag in 2026 by the international jury of the Copenhagen Programme. The first Blue Flag in Bulgaria was raised on Sunny Beach on July 4, 1995.
