President Iliana Iotova signed a decree appointing Nikolay Nenovsky as a member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), effective June 13, the President’s Press Secretariat said on Thursday.

Iotova will attend the official ceremony for Nenovsky’s inauguration, which will take place on June 12.

Nenovsky is a full professor at the University of Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens, France, and Director of the Monetary Research Center at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. He has taught as a full professor and visiting professor at universities in Bulgaria, Italy, France, China, Russia, Lebanon, Romania, Japan and other countries. He has supervised more than 30 doctoral students in Bulgaria and abroad.

His research interests are in monetary theory and monetary policy, international economics and monetary history. He has authored numerous articles and monographs published in leading Bulgarian and international academic journals and by leading publishing houses.

Between 1996 and 2008, Nenovsky worked at the BNB, holding expert and managerial positions in analytical units. From 2002 to 2008, he was a member of the BNB Governing Council. Since June 13, 2020, he has again served as a member of the BNB Governing Council for a six-year term, the President’s Press Secretariat said.
