The Cabinet decided on Wednesday to task Bulgarian Posts EAD with paying pensions through post offices across the country until June 30, 2031. The procedure and terms will remain unchanged.

Pensioners will continue to be able to collect their pensions and any supplements at a post office other than the one assigned to them. Pension payments can also be delivered to recipients at their homes, at either their permanent or current address, if they receive a pension for permanently reduced working capacity or are aged 68 or over.

Bulgarian Posts EAD also pays pensions and pension payment orders to people serving prison sentences or residing in social care institutions.

The government's decision also establishes a mechanism to compensate the company for the financial burden arising from the provision of the public service, raising the maximum annual state aid threshold to EUR 20 million.
