site.btaPresident Iotova Honours Prof. Ivan Dujcev Centre for Slavo-Byzantine Studies on Its 40th Anniversary
Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova on Tuesday honoured the Prof. Ivan Dujcev Centre for Slavo-Byzantine Studies on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, praising its contribution to preserving Bulgaria’s historical and cultural heritage.
Speaking at a ceremony at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, Iotova said the Centre plays a key role in safeguarding Bulgaria’s historical memory through its collections of manuscripts, archives and specialized literature. She highlighted recent achievements, including the completion of the digitization of its research holdings and the publication of more than 60 scholarly titles.
The President presented the Centre with the Honorary Sign of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. The award was accepted by the Centre’s Director, Prof. Vasya Velinova.
The anniversary celebrations will continue into 2027, when Bulgaria will mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of the renowned historian, Byzantinist and palaeoslavist Prof. Ivan Dujcev.
