The polling stations in Sunday’s parliamentary elections in Armenia closed at 8 pm local time (7 pm Bulgarian time), the country’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced.

The election day passed without any serious violations on record, said a CEC spokesperson.

Voter turnout was 58.97% at the time the polling stations closed.

By 8 pm local time, 1,476,597 citizens had cast their vote across the country.

In the previous snap parliamentary elections held on June 20, 2021, voter turnout was 49.41%.

During the day, according to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, 59 criminal proceedings were initiated for election-related crimes, 16 of which were in Yerevan.
