The average retail price of diesel fuel in the country decreased by EUR 0.01 on Thursday from a day earlier, continuing its downward trend for a fourth consecutive day, according to data from the National Revenue Agency.

The average price of diesel at Bulgarian petrol stations fell to EUR 1.63 per litre, which is the lowest level since March 27, according to a BTA check.

The retail price of petrol in Bulgaria also declined on Thursday, decreasing by EUR 0.01 from Wednesday to EUR 1.52 per litre. The last time petrol was at the same level was on May 19.

By comparison, at the beginning of the American–Israeli conflict against Iran at the end of February, and the subsequent Iranian retaliatory strikes against countries in the region, which led to a sharp increase in crude oil prices, on February 28 petrol in Bulgaria cost EUR 1.23 per litre, while diesel cost EUR 1.27 per litre.

Compared to the price levels on February 28, when the offensive against Iran began, petrol in Bulgaria is now 23.6% more expensive, and diesel is 28.3% more expensive, according to calculations by BTA.

The National Revenue Agency (NRA) publishes daily on its website the current average retail fuel prices, as well as monthly statistical data on changes in diesel and A95 petrol prices. The average prices are calculated based on fiscal receipts issued during fuel sales, which the NRA receives from traders.
