The Government is establishing an interdepartmental organizational committee in connection with the preparations for hosting Eurovision in Bulgaria following Bulgarian artist Dara’s victory in the contest this year, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said at the beginning of Wednesday's government meeting.
The Committee will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov and will include the relevant ministries, Radev specified. According to him, the preparations require significant organizational and financial resources, as well as serious coordination between institutions.
The Prime Minister described Dara’s victory as a “grand Bulgarian success” that “goes far beyond the dimensions of musical art”. “It depends on us to make the most of it,” Radev said. He stressed that for the government “there is no time for emotions”, as preparations for the upcoming commitments have already begun.
Radev also announced that later this week Dara, her team and the management of Bulgarian National Television will be invited for coordination on all issues related to the organization and preparations.
Dara won the contest with a total of 516 points. She received 312 points from the public vote and 204 points from the international jury, bringing Bulgaria its first victory in Eurovision history and securing the country the hosting rights for the next edition of the contest.
