The inclusion of different communities in the constitution of North Macedonia does not weaken but strengthens the Macedonian national identity and paves the way toward EU membership, said Bogdanka Kuzeska, spokesperson for the opposition party Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), during a press conference.
According to Kuzeska, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and the ruling party VMRO-DPMNE continue to lie and manipulate public opinion.
She argued that when all citizens, regardless of ethnic background, are included in and protected by the country’s basic law, it increases social cohesion and strengthens Macedonian statehood.
“For example, our fellow citizens, the Serbs, who according to the latest census are significantly more numerous in Macedonia than Bulgarians and Croats, also do not pose any problem for identity,” said Bogdanka Kuzeska.
She referred to the ruling party VMRO-DPMNE as an organized criminal group, and questioned why it is not afraid of Serbs but is afraid of Bulgarians, who according to the census number only 3,504 people.
“The answer is clear, it is not about minorities, but about the deliberate blocking of EU integration. Opening the door to the European Union also means opening the door to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. And that is exactly what Hristijan Mickoski and his criminal group fear the most,” Kuzeska said, referring to the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Hristijan Mickoski.
