President Iliana Iotova and Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, meeting in Yerevan on Sunday, her press secretariat said. Iotova is in the Armenian capital to participate in the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which opens on Monday.

The president highlighted the importance of the European Political Community for connectivity in Europe and the development of relations across the continent. “Over the years, the European Union’s Eastern Partnership initiative has faded, but the format of the European Political Community gives it new energy,” Iliana Yotova noted. President Khachaturyan emphasized that Bulgaria is a good example of European integration and can be useful to Armenia with its experience.

During the meeting, the traditionally friendly relations and historical ties between the two countries, as well as between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples, were underscored.
