The government decided on Wednesday that compensation for non-household use of electricity at prices exceeding EUR 122.71 (BGN 240) per megawatt-hour will be calculated on a monthly basis instead of once every six months, caretaker Minister of Energy Traicho Traikov said in a statement in the Council of Ministers building on Wednesday.
This will allow better planning of company expenditures and will discourage businesses from raising the prices of their goods and services to make up for higher electricity costs which they may not necessarily incur. In this way, consumers will get lower and predictable prices for the things they buy, Traikov explained.
The government also decided to make public information about which non-household entities receive compensation for electricity at higher prices than the above-mentioned limit, Traikov said, adding that this will not violate confidentiality rules.
