site.btaUPDATED Central Election Commission Announces Seat Distribution in 52nd National Assembly
The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the distribution of parliamentary seats among parties and coalitions in the 52nd National Assembly on Thursday. The Progressive Bulgaria coalition will have a majority with 131 MPs (54.58% of the total number of 240), said CEC Chair Kamelia Neykova.
The distribution is as follows:
- Progressive Bulgaria – 131 MPs after receiving 1,444,920 votes
- GERB-UDF – 39 MPs after receiving 433,755 votes
- Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria – 37 MPS after receiving 408,846 votes
- Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) – 21 MPs after receiving 230,693 votes
- Vazrazhdane – 12 MPs after receiving 137,940 votes
Neykova reported that the total number of voters in the April 19 elections was 3,360,330. Voter turnout was 51.11%, as a total of 6,575,151 to cast a vote, according to data on the CEC website.
A total of 21 candidates for the National Assembly have declined to serve as members of the 52nd National Assembly. Nineteen people requested to be removed from the MRF's candidate lists, one from Progressive Bulgaria, and one from GERB-UDF. The CEC is expected to announce the full list of members of the 52nd National Assembly on Saturday.
