An exhibition dedicated to Sofia’s riverside spaces was inaugurated by caretaker Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov at Sofia's Crystal Garden on Friday. The display features a series of panels presenting specific riverside spaces alongside conceptual ideas for their transformation. The exhibition was designed by architect Dimitar Pouchnikov and will run until April 28.

“These are visions of what Sofia’s rivers could look like one day,” Popov said, noting that the concepts reflect modern approaches to river restoration. He added the importance of recognizing that Sofia has a network of rivers.

The exhibition outlines different stages in the potential development of rivers, according to the Sofia Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning and Development, architect Ljubomir Georgiev. While a number of procedures will be required to bring these visions to life, he said it is encouraging to see there is public support for river protection.
