Prof. Georgi Valchev, Rector of the St Kliment Ohridski Sofia University, and BTA Director General Kiril Valchev bowed their heads on Tuesday before the memorial plaque marking the 120th anniversary of the April Uprising, located next to the entrance of the Georgi Sava Rakovski Bolhrad High School in Ukraine.

The school celebrated its holiday, marking the 205th anniversary of the birth of Bulgarian freedom-fighter Georgi Rakovski.

The commemorative plaque was donated by the Rodolyubets (Patriot) Association for Relations with Bessarabian and Taurian Bulgarians in Sofia and is dedicated to the Bessarabian and Odesa Bulgarians, as well as teachers and students who supported their compatriots who rose up in Bulgaria.

During the event, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev announced that the first event at the news agency's newly opened 45th National Press Club in Bolhrad will be a presentation of BTA's LIK magazine. It will take place on April 20 and will be intended for the students at the high school and the Bulgarian community in the region.

"BTA's National Press Club in Bolhrad will support the activities of the Bulgarian press center BG Focus at the Georgi Sava Rakovski Bolhrad High School, which is being inaugurated on the school's patron day, marking the 205th birth anniversary of Georgi Rakovski. This is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Consulate General in Odesa, which provided funding for the establishment of the press centre under a project by Sabuzhdane (Awakening), the Bolhrad District Association of Citizens, Teachers and Students, under the Government's Programme for Support of Bulgarian Communities, Organizations and Media Abroad," BTA's Director General said.
