The Media Literacy Coalition (MLC) on Wednesday called on all political parties taking part in the April 19, 2026 parliamentary elections to include media literacy as a national priority in their programmes.

"Regardless of who wins the elections, we urge parties to unite around the importance of media literacy for our society, given the increasingly complex and large-scale challenges of the evolving digital environment," the coalition said in a press release.

The MLC warned that AI-driven scams targeting elderly people are becoming widespread, while risks for young people are also growing, as they spend a significant portion of their time online and build their social connections there.

The coalition called for the development of a national policy in this area, bringing together the efforts of institutions, the education system, civil society and the media. It also urged the National Assembly to take concrete legislative steps.
