Progressive Bulgaria's goal is to remove the oligarchic model from power, the coalition's leader, Rumen Radev, said during a presentation of the candidate list for Varna's third multi-member constituency on Friday. “We have a very clear goal. We have a calling – to get rid of the corrupt oligarchic model from power, to cut off its access to public resources, and to stop the theft,” he noted.
“We have seen enough of ‘assemblages’ [a term used with a negative connotation to refer to the formation of governments by politically incompatible entities], of theft and negligence, of arrogant behavior,” he said, adding that for this reason he had made the decision to leave the President's Office and enter Bulgarian politics together with his associates.
“There is no Borissov–Peevski model. There is a Peevski–Borissov’ model,” Radev noted, arguing that this model has taken over not only all state institutions, but also exploits public resources and pressures honest businesses. “We can no longer tolerate this. We will free Bulgarian business from oligarchic extortion so it can invest freely, and our economy can be driven by entrepreneurship, investment, and fair competition,” he said.
”The oligarchy deprives us of justice and drains our money, and will not stop even at the worst — taking control of water resources and poisoning our land,” Radev added. He said that GERB leader Boyko Borissov was already openly talking about shale gas extraction in Bulgaria’s breadbasket. “This is the next crime they are preparing,” he said, adding that Bulgarian voters can stop that. “Your vote for Progressive Bulgaria is a vote for our land, nature, water, and the food of our children — for our future,” Radev said.
