site.btaLargest Election Campaign Donation Declared So Far Amounts to EUR 20,000

By 10am on Thursday, the largest donation declared for an election participant was EUR 20,000, the Bulgarian National Audit Office (BNAO) said.

The number of donations declared by that time stands at 110, with a total value of EUR 149,116. They were made by private individuals to two election participants, the press release said.

The largest sum of money provided by a candidate or a member of a nomination committee is EUR 10,000, while the total amount collected so far is EUR 31,437.60 for two election participants.

March 25 (five days after the campaign opened on March 20) was the deadline by which all participants in the April 19 snap parliamentary elections were required to submit initial information to the BNAO. This included data on donors and the size of the donations, data on candidates and members of initiative committees who provided funds and the size of those funds, declarations on the origin of the funds donated and provided, and the names of the polling, advertising and PR agencies they work with.

Further data are expected to reach the BNAO from election participants on paper, sent by post.

The data are published in real time in the Integrated Register under the Election Code on the BNAO website, and the information is available to the public in the section "2026: Elections to the National Assembly on April 19, 2026".

Any new information received about election participants must be submitted to the BNAO within seven days after the initial submission.

By June 3 (30 working days after election day), election participants must submit to the BNAO their reports on revenues, expenditures and assumed payment obligations related to the election campaign. By June 18 (15 days after the submission deadline), the BNAO will publish the reports on its website, together with all donor information.

Within six months after that, the BNAO will carry out an audit for compliance of the declared campaign revenues and expenditures. This applies to payments exceeding BGN 1,000 (EUR 511). The audit report will be published on the institution's website.
