Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov took part in the 20th meeting of the Consultative Forum of Prosecutors General and Directors of Public Prosecutions of the European Union (EU) Member States in The Hague, the prosecution service said on Friday. It was opened by the President of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, Michael Schmid.

The forum focused on a document titled “Vision 2035,” which aims to outline the strategic development framework of Eurojust.

The participants also discussed the Eurojust Regulation with a view to its revision. Other topics Included the agency’s ambition to establish itself as a trusted source of practical guidance on complex cases, judicial instruments and emerging forms of crime, as well as the challenges posed by digitalization and artificial intelligence. Cooperation with Europol was also discussed, as key to operational effectiveness and coordinated responses to complex and rapidly evolving criminal phenomena.

The Consultative Forum in The Hague brings together prosecutors general, deputy prosecutors general and representatives of prosecution services from all EU Member States, national members at Eurojust, and representatives of the European Commission. The forum aims to enhance coordination of investigations and prosecutions, as well as cooperation between the competent authorities of the Member States in tackling serious cross-border and organized crime.
