Grigor Dimitrov lost his first-round match against at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami late on Thursday. Bulgaria's highest ranked tennis player suffered a 6-7(3) 6-4 6-7(6) defeat after failing to convert a matchpoint in the final tiebreak, which would have secured him his first comeback from a set down in 2026.

Dimitrov couldn't defend the ranking points from last year when he reached the semi-finals and will fall down outside of the top 85 before the start of the clay court season.

The statistics show that the Bulgarian had the upper hand in the largest part of the match but that was not enough - he scored 50 winners with 45 unforced while his opponent had a negative ratio.
