site.btaTISP Floor Leader Says Regular Government Ensured Stability, Criticizes Caretaker Cabinet

Addressing Parliament Thursday in a declaration on behalf of There Is Such a People (TISP), Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov said that during regular governance, there was stability and normal development, despite any shortcomings.

He argued that the regular government was brought down not for failing its duties, but because "a small greedy group spread entirely fabricated fears online". According to him, there is now "an organized criminal group of caretaker ministers".

Yordanov was referring to large-scale anti-government protests held in Sofia and most regional capitals on December 1, 2025, followed by another wave of mass protests on December 10, which led to the resignation of Rosen Zhelyazkov's cabinet, which had been formed on the mandate of GERB-UDF. A caretaker cabinet headed by Andrey Gurov was appointed, and early parliamentary elections will be held on April 19, 2026.

He said that with the formation of the caretaker cabinet, which he called “Petrohan” (referring to a high-profile criminal case in which five men and a 15-year-old boy met a violent death between February 1 and 8), the situation has worsened, as it focuses on dismissing people and appointing its own party members.

On March 4, caretaker Interior Minister Emil Dechev dismissed the directors of the National Police, the Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime, and the Directorate General Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counter Terrorism. In late February, he replaced the Ministry's Secretary General and dismissed the heads of 23 out of 28 regional directorates of the Interior Ministry.

He addressed Bulgarian citizens, asking when they felt more at ease and had more peace regarding their lives, in 2025 or in 2026, when they felt more stable, before or after the New Year.

“We are facing some of the most unfair elections in Bulgaria,” he said, addressing Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria: “You ordered this outrage, but it will not happen this way, because there will be such a people.”
