site.btaCabinet Nominates New Commanders of Air Base and Mechanized Brigade

The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to propose to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria the issuance of a decree appointing Colonel Metodi Orlov to the position of Commander of the 3rd Air Base, effective April 1, 2026.

The cabinet also proposes that Colonel Atanas Georgiev be appointed to the position of Commander of the 61st Mechanized Brigade and be promoted to the senior officer rank of Brigadier General, effective April 10, 2026.

The Council of Ministers also adopted a decision to propose to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria the issuance of a decree relieving Brigadier General Margarit Mihaylov of his duties as Commander of the 61st Mechanized Brigade and from military service, effective April 10, 2026, due to retirement to the Defence and Armed Forces Act of the Republic of Bulgaria.
