BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.
Boyko Borissov is the top-of-the-list candidate of GERB-UDF for Sofia’s 25th multi-member constituency and Plovdiv City’s 16th multi-member constituency, the party press service said here Thursday.
Borissov was born on June 13, 1959, in Bankya. He has been prime minister in three governments.
He graduated from the Higher School of the Ministry of the Interior. In 2001, he was appointed Secretary General of the Interior Ministry. From 1985 to 1990, he was a lecturer at the Higher Institute for Officer Training and Research of the Ministry of the Interior. In 1990, he left the Interior Ministry system.
After by-elections, Borissov won the vote as an independent candidate and in 2005 took office as Mayor of Sofia.
The GERB political party was founded on his initiative on December 3, 2006.
Borissov was an MP in the 40th, 42nd, 43rd, 44th, 49th, 50th and 51st National Assembly.
