Bulgaria's caretaker Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky has conferred with Matthew Whitaker, Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO, on the sidelines of a Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, the Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday. The two discussed the situation in Iran and condemned Tehran’s attacks against countries in the Middle East.

They also reaffirmed the strategic nature of bilateral relations, with Whitaker emphasizing that Bulgaria remains a strong ally.

The meeting included a brief review of regional security in the Western Balkans, as well as the latest developments in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
