The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning parliamentary group Tuesday will alert the European Public Prosecutor’s Office over a statement by caretaker Health Minister Michail Okoliyski, who said that “a handful of oligarchs are abusing European funds” and that ”the National Recovery and Resilience Plan is being misused.” The MRF - New Beginning is calling on Okoliyski to name the oligarchs instead of causing public concern by “using half-truths and vague statements merely to demonstrate some questionable political activity.” The names of those responsible should be clearly identified and exposed, the party’s press office said.

Such negative practices must be met with zero tolerance, especially in a sector as sensitive to society as healthcare, the press release added.

Okoliyski made the statement during a roundtable discussion on Monday. In his words, out of EUR 6 billion, only about EUR 1 billion will be utilized, because every measure involves forms of public procurement that have become bogged down in dependencies and inability to implement them.
