The MRF - New Beginning political formation will submit a proposal to impose a moratorium on the transfer of state-owned properties by the caretaker Government, the party’s press centre announced here on Thursday. The statement added that “Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev and municipal councillors from Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-Save Sofia have prepared a scheme to acquire state properties in the capital.”
According to the party, the caretaker Cabinet has a single main political responsibility under the Constitution - to ensure conditions for free and fair elections.
MRF - New Beginning said the moratorium aims to curb “attempts to plunder valuable state resources and to protect the interests of the people.”
On Thursday, the Sofia Municipal Council is expected to consider the transfer of state properties to the capital at its regular session. The reports are submitted by Mayor Terziev and Council Chair Tsvetomir Petrov. The properties include emblematic city buildings, land for new kindergartens and schools, a park, and a site for waste management needs.
