“I sincerely hope that the procedure will be completed, including the election of members from the parliamentary quota, and that this will be the last General Assembly chaired by an acting Prosecutor General,” acting Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova said at the opening of the General Assembly of Prosecutors called to elect members of the Supreme Judicial Council from the prosecutors’ professional quota.
“The number of nominees itself shows that there is considerable interest and genuine competition. Today, we will hear our candidates’ ideas and visions for the development of the judicial governing body. This will be important in helping us make our choices when we cast our votes next Saturday,” she stated.
Stefanova recalled that four years ago, prosecutors had fulfilled their professional duty by electing their representatives to the SJC, adding that they would do so again next week.
“I hope we will exercise sound judgment and, on October 24, elect the most deserving and honorable professionals,” she said.
