Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Andrey Gurov and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Mathias Cormann have discussed Bulgaria's progress towards joining the organization. The sides met during the second Nuclear Energy Summit in Paris on Tuesday, the Government Information Service said.

During the discussion, Gurov stressed that Bulgaria's membership in the OECD remains a strategic national priority. The caretaker Prime Minister highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring policy continuity and to actively contributing to the completion of the technical phase of the accession process as soon as possible. The aim is for this country to receive an official invitation to join the OECD by the end of 2026.

Gurov noted that his Cabinet is committed to working closely with the National Assembly to advance and finalize as many legislative dossiers related to the OECD recommendations as possible in the period remaining before the parliamentary elections in April.

He expressed his gratitude to Cormann for his personal support for Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD. Gurov reaffirmed the country’s readiness to continue working in close partnership with the Organization and voiced his expectation that the Secretariat will support the successful completion of the remaining reviews within the OECD committees.
