The parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning will submit amendments to the Public Social Insurance Budget Act providing Easter allowances for pensioners below the poverty line, the party's press centre said on Monday.

The proposal envisages a one-off payment, the statement said.

The party recalled that the measure was also adopted in 2025 at its initiative and reached nearly 680,000 pensioners.

Parliament and the caretaker government should pay greater attention to people's daily concerns, which are related to fuel prices, electricity, water, food and the rising cost of living, the statement added.

The average monthly pension for 2025, including the so-called Easter and Christmas allowances, amounted to BGN 976.90, the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) said. Compared with 2024, this represents an increase of BGN 93.88 (10.6%).

The average monthly number of pensioners in 2025 is 2,058,008, which is 13,251 more than in 2024, the NSSI added.
