site.btaBuditeli Folk Dance Group from Northampton to Present Dance Felt With Soul in Munich

There are dances that are remembered with the eyes, and those that are felt with the soul, said Nataliya Kirilova, head and choreographer of the Buditeli folk dance group in Northampton, England. The dance group will participate at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling folklore festival, which will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany.

Kirilova noted that her dance group will show their latest composition entitled Rhythm and Magic from Erkech. The village of Erkech is known today as Kozichino and lies in East Central Bulgaria, near the Black Sea coast. "A dance message that flies across distances to touch everyone at the festival in Munich. Because art is the language of the heart," she emphasized, adding that the performers impress not only with the hereditary Erkech costumes, the characteristic Lazar dance and decoration, but also with musicality, preserved old songs and inexhaustible energy.

"This preserved authenticity turns Erkech into one of the brightest places in Bulgaria, where tradition is not just remembered, it is experienced", Kirilova pointed out, adding that it is an honor and pleasure to present something so magical at the festival in Munich.

The travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the "Ot Izvora" group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
