site.btaTurkish Intelligence Detains Four Terrorists Preparing Attacks in Istanbul

The Turkish National Intelligence Organization and the General Directorate of Security have detained four terrorists belonging to the far-left Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C) who were preparing an attack in Istanbul, Turkish state broadcaster TRT Haber reported on Thursday.

The DHKP/C is listed as a terrorist group by Turkiye, the European Union and the United States. It preaches Marxist ideology and has been behind a number of attacks, including suicide bombings, in Turkiye since 1990.

According to the broadcaster, intelligence activities revealed that members of the terrorist organization were preparing armed and bomb attacks at key locations. Based on the information, a coordinated joint operation was conducted on February 25.

The announcement adds that another anti-terrorist operation was carried out on February 3 along these lines. It took place in 22 districts of Turkiye and was directed against members of the Marxist-Leninist communist party.
