site.btaSofia District Prosecution Office Charges Danish Citizen with Hooliganism

The Sofia District Prosecution Office has brought criminal charges against a Danish citizen for hooliganism committed at a fitness centre, the prosecution service said on Wednesday.

A.I. has been charged for committing indecent acts on February 10 at a gym in Sofia that grossly violated public order and demonstrated clear disrespect for society. A.I. punched K.K. in the head. After police officers intervened, the accused verbally abused the officers and struck one of them.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under Article 325, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, which provides for a sentence of imprisonment.

By order of the supervising prosecutor, the foreign national has been detained for up to 72 hours.

A request will be filed with the Sofia District Court seeking the imposition of a permanent detention measure - remand in custody - against the accused.
